With all of the diet theories out there (over 100 of them), it’s no wonder people feel overwhelmed when embarking on a wellness journey. It does’t have to be complicated though. God made it very simple for us. Start with what grows in the ground. You don’t have to be a vegan either to reap massive benefits, simply incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet.

Now I have to give an honorable mention to leafy green vegetables. They oxygenate our cells, flush out environmental toxins (for city dwellers), deodorize our bodies from the inside out, and clarify our skin. With their chlorophyll content, it’s like eating sunshine.

Here are some benefits to eating a plant based diet:

  • jumpstart weight loss,

  • heal the body from a sickness

  • cleanse/detox

  • preparing for a safe fast

  • improve mental focus

  • increase stamina and energy

  • clear skin and eyes

A rule of thumb is to eat a wide variety of colors. Each color has specific phytonutrients that do amazing things in our bodies. For example, the phytonutrient lycopene help give tomatoes and watermelon their redish/pinkish color and also fights against cancer and heart disease.
